RCAL is currently seeking talented individuals for the following positions:
Director of Independent Living Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree and at least four years relevant experience delivering vocational services or other
services to individuals with disabilities.
2. Outstanding organizational, writing, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to network with businesses, community services and resources.
4. Outstanding problem-solving, writing, and public speaking skills.
5. Must be familiar with resources available in various counties and the ability to navigate the service
area.
6. Ability to coordinate schedules and assignments.
7. Ability to do trainings and billing.
8. Experience as a DSP preferred.
9. Experience supervising programs and personnel preferred.
10. Professional experience in housing, community organizing, Independent Living, long term care, and/or
disability rights strongly preferred
11. Knowledge of state and local housing policies, practices, laws and issues impacting seniors and people
with disabilities preferred.
12. Valid NYS driver’s license and automobile insurance that meets the requirements set by the program
and our insurance company
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promote the Independent Living Philosophy
2. Have an in-depth understanding of Special Education Rules and Benefits Advisement.
a. It is expected that the Cornell Certification will be achieved.
3. Maintain files of all individuals served
4. Develop and maintain service delivery models that promote self-advocacy, personal growth and
community integration.
5. Complete Consumer Service Record’s. Maintain records of all contacts with individuals.
6. Assist with time sheets and mileage approvals.
7. Advise individuals and employees about available community resources and services.
8. Assist with coordination of resources and services.
9. Conduct Supervisory meetings with staff
10. Work with Administrative Support to schedule and Staff tabling Events
11. Provide Support to the Rep Payee Supervisor
a. Handle issues that rise to a complaint level
b. Sign Checks for Disbursement in the Rep Payee Program
c. Approve ACH’s
12. Coordinating, Scheduling, and Creating Workshops
13. Provide information and assistance with advocacy and self-advocacy as necessary.
14. Develop peer and community support linkages.
15. Participate in regular staffing of office telephone for resource inquiries and information calls.
16. Keep accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner.

Part-Time Community Habilitation Support Staff
RCAL is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Part-Time Community Habilitation Support Staff to specifically serve the Marlboro and Modena, NY areas. In this role, you will provide direct assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities to help them achieve their goals, enhance their independence, and participate more fully in their communities. The Community Habilitation Support Staff will work closely with clients, their families, and other members of the support team to implement individualized plans and promote meaningful engagement and skill development.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate for individuals' needs
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to transport individuals as needed
- Ability to lift and transfer individuals as required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for individual privacy
