Looking to buy, sell or donate your used home medical equipment? Take a few minutes to look at www.usedHME.com. For those giving the equipment away for free, the service is free to list.  Buyers pay nothing! To look for equipment in your neighborhood, just type in your zip code.

If an agency is looking for volunteer recruitment, here is a great opportunity to find some.  Look on the website http://www.volunteermatch.org/nonprofits/gettingstarted/. In order to register, you must have the EIN/Employer Identification Number of your organization.

The National Organization on Disability's Emergency Preparedness Initiative encourages people with disabilities to  get informed, create partnerships and make an Emergency Plan  For more information, to get publications on disability preparedness, go to www.nod.org.

Visit MHIS - Mid-Hudson Interpreter Service on the web at www.taconicresources.net on more information on acquiring an interpreter, sign language and other types of interpreters.

To find out more information about issues important to people with disabilities, vote and encourage other to vote, please visit NYS Independent Living Council, Inc.'s website at www.nysilc.org.  The NY Statewide Systems Advocacy Network (SSAN) has a Voter Pledge Form to become part of a statewide voter database.

Verizon has a Center for Customers with Disabilities which provides communication resources for people who have low vision or blindness, hearing loss or deafness or cognitive, speech or mobility impairments.  Verizon representative's are experienced in the use of all the equipment they offer, from Teletypewriters and Amplified Telephones to Large Number and Cordless phones.  They also have other services, such as Braille and large-print phone bills.  To contact the Verizon Center for Customers with Disabilities, please call toll free at 1-800-974-6006 (V/TTY).  You can also visit them on-line at www.verizon.com/disabilities or e-mail them at vccdwest@verizon.com.

The SUNY New Paltz Speech and Hearing Center provides a wide variety of services for people with communication disorders within the community and at New Paltz College.  For more information on Services and Fees, click here.

The Catskill Center for Independence in Oneonta will be holding about four regional trainings across the state to provide information about HAVA, voting rights of citizens with disabilities, how to file a discrimination complaint and other voting related information to eligible voters with disabilities. These trainings will also include instructions for assessment of polling place accessibility. In addition, similar trainings will be provided for BOE Officials, polling site workers, politicians and others with a responsibility for and an interest in the voting process.
